Your HVAC
What is supply air?
Supply air is conditioned air delivered from HVAC equipment into rooms through ducts, registers, or indoor heads.
Supply air: Conditioned air delivered from HVAC equipment to occupied rooms.
Supply air is air delivered from HVAC equipment into the house. In a ducted system it travels through supply ducts and enters through registers; a ductless system delivers it directly from an indoor unit.
What a supply reading can show
Comparing supply and return temperatures can document system behavior, while comparing registers can map an uneven-airflow pattern. Neither observation measures the total airflow or cooling capacity by itself.
Leaks and heat gain in duct runs can change what reaches a room. ENERGY STAR describes duct sealing as a comfort and efficiency measure, with evaluation and repair performed using appropriate materials and methods (duct guidance). Keep registers open and unobstructed, but leave duct balancing, sealing, insulation, and equipment measurements to qualified work.
